Officers' Reports

Chair:

It's been a good term - attendance was variable, but some new people turned up. We tried some new activities. It seemed to go well; there's a few days to go but they should be OK.

Chair-Elect:

There is a pipeline. A definite pipeline. It may not have much running through it at the moment, but the ideas are 'emerging'.

A first aid evening is pretty much a definite - we've even got a room for it in St Hugh's. Another given is the pancake evening, which will probably take place in Gillian's kitchen, unless a more spacious venue can be found between now and then. Then there is the TGM.

Ideas for the rest of the term: An intellectual, (well, game show), quizzy kind of evening; a more practical, "make a bridge to support your whole team using only toothpicks" kind of evening; a possible theatre trip, though there's not much on according to Gillian (Grease anyone?); ready, steady, bake - speed cake-making; a possible murder mystery evening and a possible outdoor activity, e.g. wide game / work out clues. There is also a possibility of small-bore (hopefully not too dull (sorry)) rifle-shooting, though I haven't spoken to anyone about it yet.

So there you are. Any comments / handy tips / 'please, please God not that' - readily received. Not sure on the room situations yet - the Latner room for week one would be good if someone could book it, and if anyone knows of any bigish rooms in their college going begging, please do let us know…

Treasurer:

£817.35 in current account, of which £182.40 is reserved for the equipment fund. No expenses have been paid out yet. Events £256.83, Ex-Members £149.40.

Secretary:

The Proctors have finally confirmed that we were registered with them this term.

We still need to train more minibus drivers as soon as possible.

Finally, the F&GPC and TGM minutes books have not been updated since Hilary Term 2004. Any contributions to fill in the gaps would be gratefully received.

SSAGO Representative:

A while ago I filled in the membership form and sent it to Sarah for forwarding.

[Sarah says she will send it within the next few days.]

Membership Secretary:

18 current members, 30 old members, but not all have paid. There are 5 or 6 fewer current members than last year, but we have kept 5 freshers.

Scout & Guide Liaison:

No report received.

N&N Organiser:

NnN happened - freshers have turned up.

Quartermaster:

Haven't got round to going to stores yet. Stores are open 11am-4pm every weekday. There is no charge for using them.

We have pasta, spices, matches, candles etc for Winter Walking.

Internet Officer:

The Internet is still there. We are registered with OUCS. Need for registration has been added to the file. Web site is up to date - may be re-designed over winter. Suggestions welcome.

Andrew has put us on www.acronymfinder.com.

PostScript Editor:

3 issues printed at St Hugh's for free - thanks to Alistair. The archive is a bit of a mess.

Motion: "That Luke should investigate getting some box files to keep the PostScript archive in."

Motion unanimously passed. Action: Luke to investigate getting box files.

PostScript Distributor:

Sent the first one out to everyone, and the second to people who have paid. Bod and Scouts to get copies at end of term.

Ex-Members' Representative:

We have over 60 members.

Motion

"That the Group shall subsidise an OUSGG team for this year's Tour de Trigs competition, and that such subsidy shall not exceed £15." - proposed by Philip Alderton.

Votes for: 10
Votes against: 0

Motion carried. Action: OUSGG to reimburse the team up to a maximum of £15.

Any Other Business

We need a new signature book. Action: Jonathan to buy it.

Jacqui suggests taking the book to Winter Walking.

Luke: The library is in Tristam's garage.

There is a lot of outdated paperwork in the secretary's file, such as termly updates on the minibus hire scheme dating back to at least 1997, and similarly ancient re-registration forms. Unless there are any objections, Alistair would like to dispose of these. Action: Get rid of old minibus stuff etc - use discretion.

Meeting closed at 20:32.
